365 Days of Fitness: December/Final Recap

Well, my 365 Days of Fitness challenge is now officially complete! When I first had this idea last December, I thought it would be a good goal to keep me motivated throughout 2014. I was so right! I was more active this year than any other year in my life. I only had 10 days out of the entire year that I didn’t do something active. That’s kind of crazy when I think about it!  I was able to hit 100 miles again for the month of December and I finished my 38 day running streak from around Thanksgiving to right after New Years Day. I also completed a half marathon in a time I was super proud of, at 17 weeks pregnant. It was a great way to end my year and this challenge.

The challenge is over, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to make an effort to be physically active in some way every day that I can. I know that staying active is the key to feeling good during pregnancy for me, and it will be important for me to do the same after the baby is born in May. Here’s to another great year in 2015!

365 Days of Fitness: November Recap

It’s so hard to believe that I’m recapping November, and I’m in the final month of my 365 Days of Fitness challenge! When I first had this idea last December, I thought it would be a good goal to keep me motivated throughout 2014. I was so right! I was more active this year than any other year in my life. November was another great month. I made an effort to fit some sort of activity in every day except for two. As you can see from the photos, we can quite the variety of weather here in Virginia this month. Some days I was in shorts and a t-shirt, and others I had to break out all of my cold weather gear. But now that I’m in my second trimester, my energy levels are so much better and so is my motivation! I was able to support some wonderful friends as they raced in Richmond, and participated in my first ever Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot. I ran a lot with my friends and with my boys. I finished the month with 100.3 miles. My goal was 100 🙂 It was definitely a month that made me thankful for my ability to run!

Only 1 more month! And I shouldn’t miss any days in December because I’m doing the Runner’s World Winter Running Streak. What a great way to end the year on a strong note! I guess I should start thinking about what my 2015 challenge will be 🙂

365 Days of Fitness: October Recap

I can’t believe I am writing my October 365 Days of Fitness post! That means there’s less than 2 months left in 2014. That is crazy! This month I will admit that I did not exercise every single day. As I progress through the weeks in pregnancy, I’m finding that my body has needed a complete day of rest each week. I know I could have gone out for a walk or something simple instead, and that’s my goal for the upcoming months, but it didn’t happen in October. I took a total of 3 days off. I’m totally fine with that though, because I had some amazing fitness experiences this month. I was able to run with a ton of friends, do regular strolling running with my family, body pump twice a week, and an amazing half marathon!

365 Days of Fitness: September Recap

Another late 365 Days of Fitness post! We’re more than halfway through October and I haven’t recapped September! Ugh, I am terrible, but I’ve been so busy. This month marked the end of my 101 day running streak but that didn’t mean I stopped being active. I was still able to move my body in some way every day in September. I’m extra proud of myself because this month I began going back to Body Pump consistently two times a week, and I’m really feeling strong as a result.

365 Days of Fitness: August Recap

Ahhh, I am behind once again on my 365 Days of Fitness post! We’re more than halfway through September and I haven’t recapped August! In August I enjoyed my last few weeks of summer and then headed back to work- and I haven’t stopped since! This month was filled with amazing runs- like the Hartwood 10 Miler and the Patrick Henry Half Marathon. I ran with other people almost every day, which makes me so happy! It was also filled with some not so amazing times, like a horrible stomach bug that almost knocked me out of the challenge and some unbearable late summer heat and humidity. But I made it through and completed the 8th month of my challenge.

365 Days of Fitness: July Recap

OMG you guys. It’s August 17th and I still haven’t written my 365 Days of Fitness recap for JULY! Wow. I am so behind on so many blog posts. The truth is that this summer has kept me insanely busy- in a good way! I have chosen to spend as much time as I can with my toddler who craves (and deserves) my attention rather than in front of a computer screen.  July was another amazing month. I finished it off with 134 miles, which is the most I’ve done since before pregnancy! We traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and across the country to Oregon. I scored a new 5K PR and finally beat my husband! I also reconnected with a lot of my old running buddies and was able to run with them a ton which made me super happy.

365 Days of Fitness: June Recap

June was an AWESOME month for fitness! It wasn’t hard to make sure I got in some activity every day because I was doing the Runner’s World Summer Running Streak. I finished the month with 117 miles- the most I have run since before I got pregnant back in January 2012! WOW! I really am feeling stronger and fitter than ever and I am seeing muscles where I haven’t seen them in a very long time. It feels good! 🙂
